Bringing you Up to Date....It's been a while!

Hello! Wow, it has been a while since I blogged! The summer season has been busy, busy, busy! Not so much with my jewelry (but that has been steady in July), but with trips, kids activities, and family visits!

I never finished posting articles about my trip to Washington D.C. in June. I will get back to that at some point! Of course, I have more pictures to show off, as well!

We returned home from the Florida Keys on Tuesday. We were there for a week, at a wonderfully relaxing resort. The weather was fabulous and the photographs I took there are stunning (if I do say so myself)! I'll be writing about that experience, as well.

Yesterday, I went to a wonderful local art show (juried) called Art Fair on the Green on the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse campus. This event has grown so much over the last few years! My husband was juried in for his fine wood furniture he crafts. However, due to a schedule conflict he was unable to participate! The good thing is that he is juried in for the next two summer shows as well. It will be a great exposure for him. I applied to this show as well but was not accepted this year. The reason? Well, the reason is that they already have many jewelry artists that are making beaded jewelry. So, just like Etsy, the market here is glutted for jewelry! I went to be somewhat of a spy....to see what jewelry artists were accepted by the jury. I agree that it was not the quality of my work, just that they already had many, many jewelry booths! I am working on new pieces; incorporating my photographs into the jewelry and believe that will set my work apart. I will continue to apply to this show, until I am accepted. The opportunity will eventually present itself, as the jewelry artists have to be re-juried in after their three years in the show. I would hope the show organizers would want some new "blood".

Finally, I just completed a custom set of Bridesmaids Jewelry for a woman in Maryland. Her wedding is in the fall and she contracted with me (through etsy) to make two sets of Navy Blue Swarovski Pearl Bracelets and Earrings. They are shown in the above pictures. Other custom work I finished this summer was a horse pendant necklace on leather. These have been a popular item for my shop. Enjoy the pictures!

I have moved most of my pearl jewelry over to my own website at;
Some still remains on my etsy site at;
If you are interested in what bridal or classic style pearl jewelry I already have made you may view those pieces on the first website I listed.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy this Sunday! Mine is sunny and warm. I hope yours is too!

Feedback Time!

Hello!

I was so excited to get some more great feedback from a customer today that I decided to share it here with you! Sunday night I had a sale on etsy from a new customer who bought four pieces of my handcrafted jewelry; three necklaces and a pair of earrings. This is what she had to say;

"Hi Carol,

My jewelry arrived today and it's even more beautiful than the photos. I got the horse medallion for myself and the others (except for the earrings you generously included) are to be gifts. I can't wait to see my friends' faces when then open their presents. I will definitely come back to buy more.

Thank you so much. You're a talented artisan.
R."

Another customer writes at the end of June;

"My earrings arrived so quickly and they look absolutely GORGEOUS! I am SO excited to wear them! Carol did an AMAZING job of both providing an accurate description of her product as well as shipping the product out speedily. I will DEFINITELY shop her collection again. Thank you so so much!!"

The above comments are from new customers (who hopefully will return)! Now, I do have a fair number of repeat customers, too. Here is what they have to say;

Charlene (a recipient of many pieces of my jewelry) from Buffalo NY says;
"I love Carol's sense of style in her handcrafted jewelry". (2010)

A repeat customer in Florida bought three pieces on her last visit (June 2010) and says; "Another awesome piece from one of my favorite vendors!!!!"
in response to a pair of earrings she bought.

And says this about a bracelet she picked;
"Love, Love, Love it!!!!! Thank you!!!"

And lastly, a customer in April sent me this feedback;
"WOW!! I LOVE my new bracelet Carol, it's beautiful!! Thank you for the super fast shipping and the pretty packaging!! Perfect Seller, she is super nice and great communication!! I HIGHLY recommend this shop and will most definitely come back for more beautiful works from her!!! A+++++++ Hugs:) L."

So, as you can see, I have many happy customers. I love to hear how people love the pieces they receive from Carol's Jewelry Orchard. However, I think the best compliment is having a customer return again and again, knowing that they are getting a quality piece of handcrafted jewelry! Thank you, all, for supporting my passion for making high quality, unique, jewelry at affordable prices!

To see my newest creations, check my Etsy shop at;

and I have been working on my own website at;

I am moving my pearl jewelry to my own website. It is still described in detail and still available to purchase. Please visit soon! I'd love some comments on that site!

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back sometime over the weekend to do another travel post.
Take Care,
Carol

July fourth is one of my favorite holidays! It is a time for family, friends, good food, great weather, trips to the cabin, fishing, picnics and music. One of the biggest regrets I have in my life (and there aren't many) is that years ago, when my husband and I were living north of Baltimore, we never went to the Capital Fourth Concert in Washington D.C.. Since some of my readers know that I just went on a trip to DC., this feeling of regret has lingered more closely to the surface of my memories this year.

So, each July fourth, I play a lot of patriotic music from 2 CD's that I own. I play it often and loud! We also make a tradition of watching the Capital Fourth Concert on T.V., if we are home. Going to a local festival to watch Fireworks is another favorite thing to do!

Music plays a huge role in my life. It can bring back memories of another place and time. Music fills my home. Some days it is a CD, other times it is my son on the piano working on his lessons, recital, or concerto music. Other times, it is the same adolescent practicing his clarinet or saxaphone for summer auditions or marching band (which he can't wait to start). Soon, I'll have another child practicing an instrument, as they reach the age that is offered in school. I miss band. I played the flute and piccolo for years. I loved being part of a large group, whether it was symphonic band or marching band or fireman's band that made wonderful music.

So, today, I offer you a slide show; put to the music American Patrol. Featured are many photographs that I have taken that I feel, in some way, represent our country! Sit back, relax for a few minutes, let the slide show load, and enjoy!

Lastly, remember that my shop is still having a sale through tomorrow, 7/5/11. I am offering 20% off everything by entering the coupon code JULY20 at checkout. Stop by, you'll find some beautiful, unique jewelry awaiting you!

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July, everyone!
